One of the innovations in the Chilean labour procedural reform, is that for the first time, protection for fundamental rights was introduced in the Code of Labour Law, rights that previously were only protected in the Constitution.

Thus, currently the labour courts rules issues concerning matters of basic workers’ rights, such as the right to life, to physical and mental integrity, to privacy, to the inviolability of all forms of private communication, freedom of work, etc. when the workers, as a direct consequence of the events that occurred in the employment relationship.
